Catching a $50K+ discrepancy before the package was let

The expensive misses on a construction job live between documents. Here, the rail noise assessment required 10.38mm acoustic laminated glass rated RW35 for windows facing the corridor. The window schedule, produced by a different firm, carried a blanket 6.38mm spec rated RW30. The specification carried no acoustic seals at all. Each document was internally consistent. The discrepancy only existed for someone holding all three at once, and that cross-check had no owner. A senior project manager had spent six hours the previous day checking documents by hand and it was still in there.

CIM read the consultant reports against the schedules and flagged the mismatch, cited to page eight of the acoustic report. The builder's team opened the report, checked the table and confirmed the finding on the spot. The judgment stayed with the reviewer.
