IBC assessment

The design assessed against the IBC, clause by clause.

Only a fraction of the IBC applies to any one sheet, and working out which fraction is the job. CIM assesses the architectural set against the provisions that apply to the building's class and construction type, and cites the clause, the sheet and the revision behind every finding.

D1.4 allows 40 m to a required exit. The path is drawn on the sheet it was measured from.

Clause by clause, with the measurement drawn on the sheet it was taken from.

The old way

A senior's read, inside a fixed fee

  • The first day goes to finding the provisions

Before any assessment starts, someone works out which clauses apply to this building and holds them in their head through the set.

  • The last sheets get a thinner read

Attention runs down through a long set. A miss on sheet 180 costs the same as a miss on sheet 3.

  • Every reissue restarts the read, inside the same fee

A new issue means the assessment from the top, and the hours come out of your margin.

With CIM

Every sheet assessed to the same standard, in minutes

  • The whole set assessed in minutes

CIM reads every sheet against the clauses for the building's class and construction type. The IBC and the state amendments that apply to the job are preloaded, so the team can query them directly.

  • Every finding checkable on the sheet

The clause, the sheet and the revision, with the measurement drawn where it was taken. The senior checks a conclusion.

  • Reissues cost minutes, and the report carries its evidence

The assessment re-runs on each issue. Senior time goes to the findings that need judgement, and what was read is on record.

What it does for your team

  • Certifiers and surveyors

Your report, populated from the assessment

Clause-by-clause output written into your own report template, with compliance statuses your practitioners recognise.

  • Consultants

    Targeted checks, cited and checkable

A specific question against a specific clause, with the sheet and the measurement shown, so a reviewer confirms it in seconds.

  • Builders

Code risk found before it is built

A clause the design misses costs rework at your cost. The assessment runs on each issue as the set develops.

Send a set. We'll assess it against the code and show you the clause behind every finding.
